Theater personality Mahmudul Islam Selim collapses on stage while performing

Prominent Bangladeshi theatre personality, actor and director Mahmudul Islam Selim has suddenly fallen ill while performing in a play on stage in Toronto, Canada.

The incident occurred around 8 pm local time on October 31 while he was playing the lead role in the play 'Dewan Ghazir Kissa' produced by 'Prachya Pratichya'. Later, he was rushed to the hospital.

According to eyewitnesses, he suffered a serious heart attack. After being taken to the hospital, he was kept in the intensive care unit (ICU). 

The auditorium was full of spectators at the time of the incident. The news of the sudden illness of a beloved artist while performing on stage created an atmosphere of anxiety and grief among the audience. After the news spread, there was concern among members of the Bangladeshi community, theater workers and culture lovers living in various parts of Canada, including Toronto.

Selim's wife Lovely Begum has asked everyone for prayers for his speedy recovery. His family and well-wishers are also hoping for the recovery of this beloved theatre personality.

Mahmudul Islam Selim is a well-known face of Bangladeshi stage, television and film. He was actively involved in the civic theatre of Bangladesh. In addition to acting, he has also made important contributions to theatre direction. He continued to practice Bengali language, literature and culture even during his exile in Canada. Under his acting and direction, Bengali drama on the stage abroad has gained a new dimension.
