The July Uprising Day was celebrated with various events at the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata on Tuesday (August 5) to mark the anniversary of the fall of the Awami League government through a mass uprising by students and the public.
The program began with the recitation of the Quran at the mission premises. Mohammad Ansar recited the Quran. After that, two documentaries on Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) students, Abrar Fahad and July Woman, were screened.
The message of the President of Bangladesh was read out by First Secretary (Commerce) Sabrin Chowdhury, and the message of the interim government's chief advisor, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, was read out by Principal Secretary (Press) Tarek Chayan. Later, students from various universities in West Bengal, including Arpita Majumder, Riya, and Simanto Basu, participated in the discussion meeting.
Acting Deputy High Commissioner Sikder Md. Ashrafur Rahman, Counselor (Consular), ASM Almas Hossain, First Secretary (Political), Sheikh Marefat Tariqul Islam, and Counselor Tushita Chakma were present at the event.
