Nahida Rahman Sumna has been appointed as Bangladesh's first female ambassador to Greece. He took charge on Wednesday. Nahida Rahman Sumna replaces Asud Ahmed, the ambassador to Greece.
Before that, he was serving as High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Brunei.
Embassy Councilor (Labor) Biswajit Kumar Pal and Second Secretary Rabeya Begum along with the embassy officials extended warm greetings to the new Ambassador Nahida Rahman Sumna while taking charge on Wednesday morning local time.
Nahida Rahman Sumna served in various positions in the Bangladesh Mission in Brasilia, Ottawa, Kolkata and Canberra during her diplomatic career. He also served as the Director General of the Ministry of External Affairs Regional Organization Wing.
According to information, Nahida Rahman Sumna joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1999. In addition to the duties of Director General of the Service and Welfare Department and various important posts of the Ministry, he served as Acting Ambassador in Brazil, Acting High Commissioner in Canada, Councilor in Calcutta Deputy High Commission, and First Secretary in Canberra. He later served as Director General of the Regional Organization Wing of the Ministry of External Affairs. Before being posted to Greece, he served as High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Brunei.
Nahida Rahman Sumna obtained her BA and MA in English Literature from Dhaka University. He also holds a Masters in Diplomacy and International Trade from Monash University in Australia and a Fellowship in Water Law from the University of Geneva.
