The 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Australian Muslim Welfare Centre Incorporated (AMWC) was held in Minto, Sydney. The meeting was held at 10:30 am on Sunday (October 18) at AMWC's own premises at 13-17 Eagleview Road, Minto.

The event discussed in detail the organization's financial transparency, cemetery conservation, and various activities, including infrastructure development. The event was presided over by the organization's president, Dr. Anisul Afsar, and moderated by General Secretary Sadiqur Khan Moon.

The meeting reviewed the annual activities for the 2024-25 fiscal year as well as the financial report for the period from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026. After answering various questions from the members, the financial report was approved by consensus.

The meeting highlighted the progress of ongoing planning and development activities to implement the goal of establishing a permanent Islamic Centre and Mosque in Minto. It was reported that a planning proposal has been approved to create an opportunity for the AMWC property, located at 13-17 Eagleview Road, Minto, to be used as a place of public worship. To this end, the Campbelltown Local Environmental Plan 2015 has been amended.

The meeting also highlighted the restructuring of the Members' Funeral Fund, one of the key initiatives of AMWC. The fund has been restructured to meet the future burial needs of members and to manage the fund's operations more effectively.

It was informed at the meeting that the fund has been managed as a non-profit special purpose organization, 100% owned by AMWC.

At the same time, it was informed that the outstanding income tax returns from the 2014-15 financial year to the 2025-26 financial year have been submitted to the Australian Taxation Office. The money contributed to the members' funeral fund is reserved for future funeral benefits, so the contribution is not considered taxable income. However, the meeting was informed that the applicable tax has been paid on the income earned from investments.

Progress was also made in preserving and purchasing cemeteries to meet the future burial needs of members and their families. AMWC has secured 200 cemeteries for members through an agreement with MacArthur Memorial Park in Varroville. In addition, 50 grave plots have been purchased at the same cemetery and 15 more at Kemps Creek Cemetery.
