Calgary Bangla School graduation held in a festive atmosphere

The 'Calgary Bangla School Graduation Ceremony 2026' was held in a festive atmosphere in Calgary, Canada. The event was recently held at the Bangladesh Centre in Calgary, a joint initiative of the Bangladesh Canada Association of Calgary (BCAOC) and the Calgary Bangla School. The main objective of the event was to highlight mother tongue education, culture, and heritage to the new generation of the diaspora and to encourage students.

The main event began with the rendition of the national anthems of Canada and Bangladesh. Guests, parents, and community members stood and paid respect to the national anthem.

The chief guest at the event was Dr. Anis Haque, Professor of Electrical and Software Engineering at the University of Calgary's Scully School of Engineering. He highlighted the importance of preserving the mother tongue and cultural identity among the new generation growing up abroad.  

BCAOC President Iqbal Rahman delivered a welcome speech at the event. He said, "Calgary Bangla School is moving forward with great success. It is working to spread the Bengali language, culture and tradition from generation to generation. This trend will continue in the future as well." He added, "This school is making that dream a reality so that our children can stay connected to their roots and mother tongue. We are proud to be a part of such an institution."

The organization's General Secretary, Mr. Asif Hossain, joined the virtual session. He said, "Calgary Bangla School has been working hard and this is one of the most successful initiatives of our entire team." He added, "The tireless efforts of the teachers, volunteers and parents are truly commendable. I believe this school will bring greater success in the coming days and will be the pride of the community."

Also speaking at the event were Calgary Bangla School Principal Md. Asjad Hossain, respected teacher Munia Rahman, and BCAOC IT Secretary Sultanul Islam. Former school principals, prominent community members, and parents also spoke at the event.

The main attraction of the program was the distribution of certificates among the meritorious students. While receiving the certificates in recognition of their merit, the students' boundless enthusiasm and the presence of their guardians created an emotional atmosphere at the venue. After that, the students' excellent cultural performance began. The excellent performance of the young students fascinated the audience.
