Moulvibazar District Association debuts in Toronto

The inauguration ceremony of the new committee of the Moulvibazar District Association was held in Toronto. The event, organized at the Hungarian Cultural Center in Toronto on Sunday evening, turned into a lively gathering of expatriate Moulvibazar residents. The entire atmosphere was festive, with people representing various professions in attendance.

The event began with the rendition of the national anthems of Canada and Bangladesh. Then, the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected committee was held. The entire committee, including the 2025-2027 president Syed Mahbub Hossain, general secretary Ruhul Quddus Chowdhury, convener Tahmina Chowdhury, and the organization's advisor Shakti Deb administered the oath.

The chief guest at the event was MPP Dolly Begum for Scarborough Southwest. Special guests included Councillor Parthi Kandabel, Liberal Party Ontario Province Vice President Ahsanul Hafiz, Conservative Party ASM Nurullah Tarun, journalist Shogat Ali Sagar, Barrister Arif Hossain, Jalalabad Association of Toronto President Mahbubur Rahman Chowdhury Rony, United Jalalabad Association Khasruzzaman Chowdhury Dulu, Accountant Sarwar Chowdhury and Barrister Wasim Ahmed. Leaders of various organizations in greater Sylhet also attended the event.

President Syed Mahbub, General Secretary Ruhul Quddus Chowdhury and Convener Tahmina Chowdhury spoke on the occasion of the inauguration.

In the cultural segment, Sumaiya Ridi, Farhana Chowdhury Lima, AJ Masud, and Shamim Chowdhury performed songs. Artists from the Dance Center run by Biplob Kar performed dances. Convener Tahmina Chowdhury and member secretary Suheluzzaman Khan were responsible for coordinating the entire program.

A souvenir titled 'Chayer Desh' was also released to mark the launch. The event was hosted by Toronto-based reciter and presenter Farhana Ahmed.
