'Ravi Pranam' held in Toronto to mark Rabindranath's birth anniversary

A grand event titled 'Ravi Pranam' was held at the Tagore Centre in North York, Toronto, to mark the birth anniversary of world-renowned Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore. The event was organized by 'Ravi Charcha' (Tagore Research Circle, Canada).

The event featured a discussion on the life and philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore and performances of the poet's music, poetry and dance. At the beginning of the event, the main initiator of Rabicharcha, Dr. Sanjeev Mukherjee, delivered a welcome speech.

Writer Akbar Hossain, artist Sonali Roy and researcher Subrata Kumar Das participated in the discussion. Music by Rabindranath Tagore was performed by Shahjahan Kamal, Dr. Momtaz Mamata, Monalisa Barua, Mitul Dutt and Anindya Banerjee. In addition, the poet's poems were recited by vociferous artists Shekhar E. Gomez and Munima Sharmin. A solo dance was performed by Debolina Basak.

The group music was performed by teenage artists from Suranjali and the group dance was performed by Parmita Roy and her team. The music section of the event included Ruptanu Sharma on keyboard, Saptak Bhadra on flute and Chinmoy Kar on tabla.

All the participants were felicitated with Uttariyas. The event, organized under the direction of Debanjana Mukherjee Bhowmik, was a very successful and dignified event.
