One of the greatest religious festivals of the Buddhist community, 'Kathin Chibar Daan', was celebrated with due religious dignity and enthusiasm in the United Arab Emirates. This was the seventh edition of the Kathin Chibar Daan, organized by the Bangladesh Buddhist Vihara and Bhavna Kendra in the Emirates.

The event, which was held at the Winners Sports Club in Ajman on Friday (October 30), was presided over by the organization's president Johnny Barua and moderated by General Secretary Roni Barua. Dr. Bhadanta Gyandeep Mahather, Bhadanta Dharmaratna Mahather, Bhadanta Bhadhiya Mahather, Bhadanta Maitri Pal Mahather, Bhadanta Chandratan Ther, Bhadanta Shibli Bhate, Engineer Ashish Barua, Asim Talukder, Supajan Barua, businessman Tipu Barua, Tennis Barua, Bablu Barua and numerous Bangladeshi Buddhists were present as guests.

In addition, members of expatriate Buddhist families and pilgrims from various provinces of the Emirates spontaneously participated. The day-long festival began in the presence of monks from Bangladesh, India and Nepal.

The day-long religious ceremonies included Buddha Puja, offering of Pinda, recitation of sutras and congregational prayers. During the ceremony, meritorious students were presented with mementos. The organizers expressed their deep gratitude to the Emirates government for the successful completion of this grand event.

In Buddhism, donating a kathi robe is considered the 'best of all gifts'. The organizers and local expatriates expressed deep satisfaction at being able to organize such an event while maintaining their own culture and religious solemnity in the land of exile. At the end of the day, special prayers were offered for world peace and the well-being of all expatriates.
