The 51st Berlin BMW Long and Short Distance Marathon-2025 was held in the capital of Germany, Berlin. On Sunday, 48,143 athletes from 160 countries participated in the 42.195 km event, one of the most prestigious and attractive long-distance marathons in the world. In this event, Bangladeshi runner Shiv Shankar Pal, who has participated in 137 international long-distance marathons so far, participated in the long-distance race carrying the flag of Bangladesh.

Bangladeshi athlete Shiv Shankar Pal, who has participated in the BMW International Marathon in Berlin a record 8 times, also participated in this traditional marathon and, as usual, crossed the finishing line with the red and green flag in hand in less than three and a half hours.

After crossing the finishing line, Shiv Shankar said that it is always a joy to run in the BMW Marathon in Berlin, and it is always a pride to be able to raise the name and flag of Bangladesh in any international event.

Earlier, the marathon started at 9:15 am local time from the historic Unter den Linden, visited the city's important buildings, historical monuments, and sights, and ended at the landmark Brandenburg Gate.

Kenyan runner Sebastian Savay won the title in this event, covering the 42.195-kilometer track in just 2 hours, 2 minutes, and 16 seconds. And among the women, fellow Kenyan female runner Rosemary Vaniyuru came first in 2 hours, 21 minutes, and 5 seconds.
