The New Year badminton tournament concluded in Malaysia

The New Year Badminton Tournament 2026 was held to provide some entertainment for expatriates in their busy lives abroad. The tournament was held on Sunday night at the Premier Star Badminton Academy in Kuala Lumpur with the participation of 16 expatriate teams. 

Rafiz Rahman Russell, the founder of NR Multi Group Sdn Bhd, a young Malaysian businessman, was present as the chief guest at the event and distributed the awards. Expatriate young entrepreneur BM Russell Rana was also present as a special guest.

Hadi Justice Revolution defeated Comilla Victorians in the final to become champions. Team United Sylhet finished as the 2nd runner-up.

The champion team in the game was awarded a cash prize of 1,000 ringgit, the 1st runner-up team was awarded 700 ringgit, and the 2nd runner-up team was awarded 300 ringgit in cash and a trophy.   

Apart from the participating teams, ordinary expatriates also thronged the field to enjoy the game. Although it is difficult to find time to play sports in the expatriate community alongside work, expatriates are generally very happy with this arrangement. Many also called for more such arrangements to be made during any long vacation.

At that time, the organizing committee members were Rabbi Hasan, Niloy, Masud Rana, and Md. Azadul Islam (Musa) and Parvez Ikram, along with expatriates, were present.
