Bangladesh Society meets in New York to organize reunion

Former officials of the Bangladesh Society in New York held a meeting at the Mezzanine Restaurant in Jamaica on Monday (May 12) to organize a get-together this year. This was the second meeting of the former officials of the society. It was presided over by Dr. Wadud Bhuiyan, convener of the organizing committee. 

It was jointly managed by Member Secretary Babul Chowdhury and Chief Coordinator Mohammad Zaman Tapan.

The agenda of the meeting was to form a full committee in continuation of the first meeting on April 21, where and when the gathering could be held, budget determination, magazine publication, cultural programs and who would be guests through registration. In such a situation, the executive committee of the Bangladesh Society sent a short message to some former presidents and general secretaries about the plan taken by the society to celebrate its 50th anniversary and organize the gathering. 

Meanwhile, the preparatory committee proposed two joint conveners instead of one convener. Dr. Wadud Bhuiyan was added as convener and Rob Mia as joint convener, Nargis Ahmed. ZI Chowdhury Jewel and J Sunny Mollah were proposed as joint member secretaries along with Babul Chowdhury. In addition, Saiful Islam, Sarwar Khan Babu, Moin Uddin Mahbub, AKM Rafiqul Islam (Dalim) were proposed as co-coordinators along with coordinator Zaman Tapan. Haider's name was proposed as a member along with AKM Nurul Haque as head of the finance committee. Said Ahmed Chowdhury's name has been proposed as head of the cultural committee. 

It has been proposed that all the former presidents and general secretaries, along with Monirul Islam, be the head of the reception committee. Sheikh Siraj's name has been proposed as the head of the souvenir committee and Khan Shawkat and Siraj Uddin Sohag's names have been proposed as members. Three places in Queens and Long Island are being considered as the venue for the gathering. If more are found, they will be considered. And the best place will be chosen at the next meeting. 

Nargis Ahmed, Rob Mia, Mahmud Chowdhury, Nazrul Islam, Saud Ahmed Chowdhury, Mohammad Hossain Khan, Fakhrul Alam, AKM Fazle Rabbi, Monirul Islam, Dulal Mia Enam, Nishan Rahim, AKM Nurul Haque, Sheikh Siraj, Khandaker Farhad, ZI Jewel Chowdhury, Saiful Islam, Siraj Uddin Sohag, Wahid Kazi Elin, Kazi Tofail Islam, Khan Shawkat, Sarwar Khan Babu, Saifullah Bhuiyan and others were present at the preparatory meeting.
