Dhaka University celebrates its 104th founding anniversary in New York

The 104th founding anniversary of Dhaka University (DU) was celebrated in New York, USA. The event was held on Tuesday (July 1) at the conference room of Ilham Academy, located at 87-41, 165th Street, Jamaica. The Dhaka University Alumni 104th Anniversary Celebration Committee organized it.

Former students of Dhaka University living in the United States participated in this event organized by the Dhaka University Alumni. Among them were Muhammad Shahidullah, Aisha Akhter, Sajal Roshan, Bilkis Begum, Jasir Kabir, Tutul, Mohammad Ishtiaq Uddin, Mohammad Sikder, Nasir Khan, Akhtaruzzaman Khan. In addition, Zakir Patwari, Shamim Al-Amin, Dilruba Ayesha, Mohammad Badiuzzaman, Imam Chowdhury, Faiza Karim, Habib Khan, Shanto Biswas, Sayeed Tarek, Habibur Rahman, AB Mirza Islam, MA Haque, MR Chowdhury, M Amir Hossain were present at the event as former students of Dhaka University.

The program began with the singing of the national anthem of Bangladesh in unison. The program was hosted and conducted by prominent media personality and educationist Muhammad Shahidullah. Most of the program was filled with reminiscences. Many became emotional while talking about campus life. At least for a while, they returned to their academic life.

In a message given on the occasion of the event, ATM Abdul Bari Danny, Member Secretary of Dhaka University Alumni Association, said, "We can proudly say that our beloved educational institution, Dhaka University, has entered its 104th founding anniversary. Its contribution to the country's education, culture, and democratic movement has taken this institution to unique heights."

He further said, "We are proud that as students of Dhaka University, we are a part of history. On this special day, we all remember the values ​​anew - where education, humanity, justice and patriotism coexist together. Let us pray that Dhaka University can play a leading role in the welfare of the country and the nation for hundreds and thousands of years to come."

Professor Muhsin Patwari said, "Because I studied at Dhaka University, I was able to move to the highest teaching positions in the top universities in the United States, and for that, I feel proud of my university."
