A Bangladeshi woman has been shot and killed in what authorities describe as a suspected robbery incident at a gas station in the U.S. state of Florida.
The victim, identified as Ismin (full name not immediately confirmed), was reportedly working at the gas station when the attack occurred early in the morning, around 4:00 a.m. local time. The incident took place at a convenience store attached to the station, where surveillance cameras captured parts of the incident.
According to preliminary reports, an unidentified suspect entered the premises and opened fire, leaving the woman critically injured. She later succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Ismin’s hometown is reported to be in Chandraganj Union of Lakshmipur district in Bangladesh. News of her death has sparked grief among family members and the local community back home.
Footage from the gas station’s CCTV system has since circulated on social media, drawing widespread attention among Bangladeshi communities both in the United States and abroad. Authorities are currently reviewing the video evidence to identify and apprehend the suspect.
Local police have launched an investigation and stated that they are treating the case as a homicide. No arrests have been announced so far.
The tragic killing has raised concerns about the safety of immigrant workers in late-night retail environments, particularly those working alone in convenience stores and gas stations.
