The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) held a rally at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport on Monday to celebrate the arrival of the chief advisor, while the US Awami League held a protest rally.
A Qatar Airways commercial flight carrying the chief advisor and his entourage landed at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport at 10:10 pm on September 23 (New York time).
Before the Qatar Airways flight landed at Terminal 8, the entire terminal area was filled with slogans for and against.
Since Monday evening, leaders and activists of the US BNP and various affiliated organizations gathered at JFK Airport to welcome the chief advisor, chanting different slogans. On the other side of the terminal, the US Awami League and its affiliated organizations staged a protest and demonstration to prevent it.
Bangladesh's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Muhammad Abdul Muhith, and Bangladesh's Charge d'Affaires to the United States, DM Salahuddin Mahmud, welcomed the Chief Advisor at the airport, and then a motorcade took Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus to a luxury hotel in Manhattan. Earlier, a commercial Qatar Airways flight carrying the Chief Advisor and his entourage departed from Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 5:00 a.m. on Monday.
