Portugal Bangla Press Club announces new committee

The new committee of the Portugal Bangla Press Club for the 2026-2028 term has been formed. The names of the newly elected committee members were officially announced to the members present at the organization's executive meeting at a local restaurant in Lisbon after Iftar on Saturday.

Noticias Bangla editor Russell Ahmed has been elected as the president of the new committee. Amirul Islam Nayan (Anand Bazar and Bangla News 24) has been elected as the vice-president and Shahid Ahmed Prince (DBC News 24 and Dainik Inqilab) has been appointed as the general secretary. Abul Hossain Asad (Manab Zamin) has been appointed as the joint general secretary. Channel i's representative Hafiz Al Asad has been appointed as the organizing secretary and Mohammad Shahjahan Ahmed as the finance secretary.

In addition, Noticias Bangla's multimedia head, R. A. Ihsan, has been appointed as the publicity and office editor. Amena Khatun Ashruk (daily Ganakanth) has been appointed as the international editor.

The committee members are Rony Mohammad (Bangladesh Pratidin), SM Azad (Bangla TV), Enamul Haque (Portugal News24), Shah Mohammad Tanvir (Samkal), Sajib Hom Roy (Kalerkanth), Monir Hossain (Yofak), and Md. Mohiuddin (News 21), Sohel Rana, Akbar Hossain (Dhaka Mail), Rahib Faisal (Rupantor), Zahirul Haque (NTV Europe) and Zahid Kaiser (Probas Kotha) have been elected as the chief advisor.

Congratulating the newly elected committee members, the organization announced that an inauguration ceremony will be organized soon.

The leaders of the new committee said that the Bangla Press Club in Portugal will make its activities more modern and dynamic. They also expressed their determination to strengthen the media's role abroad and to improve journalists' professional standards.
