Prayers in Germany for the repose of Khaleda Zia's soul

A prayer meeting has been held in Germany to pray for the eternal peace of Begum Khaleda Zia, Chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and former Prime Minister.

The prayer meeting was held at the Baitul Mukarram Mosque in Berlin, the capital of Germany, after Friday prayers. The prayer was led by the mosque's khatib, Maulana Helal Uddin Siraji.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Germany Muhammad Julkar Nain was present as the chief guest at the prayer mahfil. Also present were former German BNP President Akul Mia, former Vice President Abu Hanif, former General Secretary Gani Sarkar, former First Joint General Secretary Mostaque Mannan, and Berlin BNP President Md. Jasim Sikder, leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliates and associate organizations, and expatriate Bangladeshis.

At the end of the prayer mahfil, a special prayer was offered in memory of Begum Khaleda Zia. At that time, Ambassador Julkar Nain and BNP leaders said that the death of Begum Khaleda Zia in the current critical time of the country is an irreparable loss for the nation. In her death, the country lost an experienced, courageous and uncompromising guardian of democracy.

Earlier, the German BNP and its affiliates organized funerals in absentia at several mosques in different states of Germany.

Meanwhile, a condolence book was opened at the Bangladesh Embassy in Berlin on the death of Begum Khaleda Zia. The ambassador, leaders, and activists of the German BNP and its affiliates, as well as Bangladeshis living abroad, signed the condolence book.
