The convening committees of two organizations comprising expatriates from Munshiganj district living in Portugal have been announced.

Nazmul Hasan has been appointed as the convener and Shahadat Sheikh as the member secretary of the 23-member convening committee of the Munshiganj Association of Portugal.

On the other hand, Arman Ahmed has been declared the convener and Saiful Islam the member secretary of the convening committee of the Munshiganj Humanitarian Organization, which focuses on humanitarian assistance for expatriates.

The organization's officials said that the Munshiganj Association of Portugal has been formed to strengthen social, cultural and united activities among the Munshiganj residents living abroad. Through this organization, initiatives will be undertaken to organize cultural programs, unite the expatriate Munshiganj residents, and foster mutual friendship.

On the other hand, the Munshiganj Humanitarian Organization will work to stand by the Munshiganj residents living in Portugal in any disaster or crisis. In particular, if a Munshiganj resident dies abroad, the organization will conduct various humanitarian assistance activities, including sending the body to Bangladesh.

The leaders of both organizations said that this initiative has been taken out of responsibility towards their own district and people, even while living abroad. They expressed hope that the two organizations will play an important role in social and humanitarian activities in the future. They said that they will also work for the welfare of the Bangladeshi expatriates living in Portugal.
