Jagannath Hall Alumni Association Australia organized a friendly cricket match in Sydney, Australia, on the occasion of the great Victory Day.
The match, held at the Bokalham Field in Sydney on Saturday (December 13), saw a large number of Bangladeshi expatriates participating spontaneously.
Before the game, the martyrs of the great Liberation War of 1971 were remembered with deep respect and peace and prosperity of the country were wished. The organization's president, Nikesh Nag and general secretary Kamal Joaddar spoke, highlighting the significance of the Victory Day. The organizers said that this arrangement is to spread the spirit of the Liberation War among the new generation, even in exile.
In this regard, the organization's general secretary Kamal Joaddar said, "We are proud of those who sacrificed their lives in the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. At that time, everyone fought for the country, regardless of race, religion, or caste. Even today, it is our responsibility to work unitedly in the interest of the country, forgetting communal differences."
The president of the organization, Nikesh Nag, expressed his gratitude to everyone present at the Victory Day ceremony and said, "It is very significant that we can celebrate our great Victory Day even while sitting in this peaceful country. We are determined to highlight the history of Bangladesh's freedom movement and the mainstream of Bengali culture through various events organized by Jagannath Hall Alumni Association Australia."
Biswajit Chakraborty, one of the members of the organization and the supervisor of the friendly cricket match, said, "The joy of organizing a cricket match on the occasion of the great Victory Day is unique. On this day in 1971, the brave children of Bengal achieved a final victory against the Pakistani army. We organized this event in a festive atmosphere to commemorate that historic day."
