A young man was hacked to death on charges of adultery, husband and wife were arrested

A couple has been arrested on charges of killing a young man named Md. Nazrul Islam Bhuiyan (30) over an extramarital affair in Titas, Comilla.

They were arrested from Majidpur village of the upazila on Sunday. The arrested persons are Hossain, son of Majidpur village's Majidpur Mia, and his wife, Smriti Akhter. The deceased Nazrul was the son of Md. Hanif Bhuiyan, of Sahavrudi village of the upazila.

Citing the confessions of the accused, Titas Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahidul Ullah said that Smriti, a mother of two, had an illicit relationship with Nazrul while she was staying in a rented house. Her husband Hossain, saw them in an objectionable state several times. Hossain was angry that the relationship continued even after he brought his wife to Majidpur village. On the night of August 6, Nazrul came to the house at Smriti's call and entered. At that time, Hossain, who was hiding behind the door, hit Nazrul on the head with a Chinese axe. When he fell to the ground, Smriti held his face, and Hossain hacked him to death. Later, the body was cut into six pieces and thrown into the Titas River next to the house. When Nazrul was not found anywhere after the incident, his father filed a missing person's report with the Titas Police Station. Two severed hands were recovered from a plastic bag filled with bricks from the river next to the house.
