A Bangladeshi businessman named Mahbubul Alam was shot dead by a gunman in the city of Almada, Lisbon, Portugal, on Friday in front of his wife and minor daughters, aged 10 and 14.
The deceased, Mahbubul, was the son of Nanna Mia, a US expatriate from Manikkona village in Fenchuganj upazila of Sylhet. He had been living in Portugal with his family for several years.
On Friday evening, a group of armed terrorists entered his shop and tried to loot the money. When Mahbubul resisted, the attackers shot him three times in the chest and fled. He later died on the spot. Local police and emergency services reached the spot after receiving information.
The gunmen were reportedly two young men aged 16 to 17. They were dressed in black and wore hoods and fired three shots using firearms.
The victim came to Portugal from England with his family about three years ago. Portugal's judicial police have taken over the investigation into the incident and launched an operation to catch the attackers.
