Bangladesh Medical Education Fair in Kathmandu

Bangladesh Medical Education Fair-2026 was held in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. The Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu organized the fair in collaboration with the Bangladesh Private Medical College Association (BPMCA) to promote Bangladeshi medical education among Nepali students.

Twenty private medical colleges from Bangladesh participated in the fair, providing necessary information about medical education opportunities in Bangladesh to interested Nepali students and their guardians.

At the inaugural ceremony of the fair, the Bangladesh Ambassador to Nepal highlighted the long-standing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Nepal. He emphasized the growing cooperation between the two countries in the field of education, especially in medical education. The Ambassador said that Bangladesh has become a reliable destination for international medical students due to its high-quality education, extensive clinical training, affordable tuition fees, technology-based modern medical facilities and internationally recognized degrees. He further mentioned that the course curriculum and examination system of Bangladesh is based on the Canadian system, which is more advanced than those of other countries in South Asia.

The Ambassador further said that Nepali students feel more comfortable while pursuing higher education in Bangladesh due to the similarity in language and social environment between Bangladesh and Nepal. He mentioned that students in Bangladesh get the opportunity to undergo various types of disease tests and observation, which helps them acquire advanced clinical knowledge. He further mentioned that a significant number of Nepali doctors have received medical education from Bangladesh and are currently making significant contributions to the health sector of Nepal. 

In the inaugural session, the Secretary General of Bangladesh Private Medical College Association (BPMCA) gave a detailed presentation on the medical education system in Bangladesh, highlighting academic standards, curriculum structure, clinical exposure, and student support services.

The BPMCA delegation met with Dr. Bikash Devkota, Secretary (Health) of the Ministry of Health and Population of Nepal, and the Acting Chairman of the Nepal Medical Council.
