To preserve the atmosphere of Bengali culture in the diaspora and to promote mutual harmony, the America Bangladesh Press Club (ABPC) organized a lively banquet on July 5 (Saturday). More than a hundred diaspora members, journalists, family members, and community dignitaries attended the banquet, held at the picturesque Heckscher-Ohlin State Park on Long Island, near New York City.

Surrounded by natural beauty, one of the attractions of this year's forest feast was the lamb meat cooked by Ramdas Gharami. It was an incomparable feast for all the guests. The club members also actively cooperated in making the cooking and overall arrangements a success.

The morning started with a light breakfast. Watermelons were provided throughout the day to keep everyone cool in the intense heat. Then, sports and entertainment programs began for participants of different ages. Starting from the running competition for children to the ball throwing for women, all the programs had a touch of life. The program was supervised by the club's general secretary, Shah Farooq, and joint secretary, Azimuddin Obi.

The event was attended by Democratic Party District Leader Attorney Moin Chowdhury, businessman and social worker Nurul Azim, Fahad Solaiman, Kazi Ashraf Hossain Nayan, Dulal Behedu, Harun Bhaiya, freedom fighter Abul Bashar Chunnu, and Mohammad Ali.

After lunch, a solo performance by popular expatriate singer Shah Mahbub began. Attorney Moin Chowdhury and several other guests joined in the singing.

The raffle draw was one of the highlights of the event, with each ticket costing just $5. This part was a huge success thanks to the skillful campaigning of the publicity secretary, Anisur Rahman. The afternoon snack of muri-bharta and mango bharta delighted everyone.

Among the club members and officials present at the banquet were club executive members Lablu Ansar, Anik Raj, Ajit Bhowmik, Rajub Bhowmik, Nurunnahar Nisha, Alamgir Kabir, Soumik, and others.
