Bangladeshi community's colorful pitha festival in Mildura

A traditional pitha festival was held in Mildura, Victoria, Australia, on Sunday (July 26) in a festive atmosphere, organized by the Bangladeshi community. The event was organized to showcase the rich culture, tradition, and bonds of harmony of Bangladesh in the diaspora to the new generation.

The Federal Member of Parliament for Mildura, Dr. Anne Webster MP, was present as the chief guest at the event. She highly appreciated this initiative of the Bangladeshi community and said that in Australia's multicultural society, cultural practices of different ethnic groups play an important role in promoting mutual respect, harmony and social cohesion.

The Pitha Festival is a special attraction for visitors, with a variety of delicious pithas and local dishes, including traditional Bhapa Pitha, Patisapta, and Chitai Pitha from different regions of Bangladesh. In addition, in the fascinating cultural program, community members present Bengali songs, poetry recitations, and various cultural performances, which add a different dimension to the program.

The organizers said that the main goal of the event was to showcase the history, culture, and traditions of Bangladesh to the new generation growing up abroad and to strengthen mutual relations among community members. They expressed hope that such cultural events will be held regularly in the future as well.

Guests attending the event also praised the initiative of the Mildura Bangladeshi community and expressed the opinion that such an event will make Bangladeshi culture richer and more familiar abroad.
