The 57th Cairo International Book Fair has reached its final stretch. At this moment, the fairgrounds are crowded with buyers and visitors. This year's fair has set a record for the largest and highest international participation in its history, creating great enthusiasm among book lovers.
This year's Cairo International Book Fair is the 57th edition. 1,457 publishers from 83 countries and about 6,637 exhibitors participated in the fair, which further enhanced its international importance. As the main theme of the fair, this year's Nobel Prize-winning writer, Naguib Mahfouz, has been honored as the 'Person of the Year', which is a deep tribute to his literary work.
The guest of honor of the fair is Romania. The country showcases its rich literature, culture, and publishing industry to international readers. In addition to various literary discussions at the fair's pavilion, Romanian writers, translators, and publishers actively participated, which further strengthened cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Digital initiatives and readership:
A mobile app called 'Book Fair Go' has been launched for the convenience of visitors to the fair. This app helps in easily finding the fair's situation, event schedule, and the location of publishers, which is a great combination of a book fair with modern technology.
Among religious books at this year's fair, 'The Great Upheaval (Al-Fitna al-Kubra)' has particularly attracted the attention of readers and buyers as the best-seller. In addition, children's and religious education-related books are also selling well and are being widely discussed among readers.
Presence of Bangladeshi writers:
The presence of Bangladeshi writers at the Cairo International Book Fair and the interest of international readers in their books is particularly noteworthy. The famous Arabic book 'Al-Madkhal Ila Ulumil Hadith Sharif' by Mufti Abdul Malek Hafi, Khatib of Baitul Mukarram, has received a wonderful response in this 2026 edition as well as in 2021. Not only that, his new research books have also received a great response among international readers.
In addition, the intellectual pursuit and literary work of another Bangladeshi writer, Allama Arif Uddin Maruf, was praised at this fair. Not only are his books important for the collection of rare books in the Arabic language, but it is also a matter of great pride that books by Bangladeshi writers are selling so well abroad.
