A bustling Durga Puja fair was held for the first time in Calgary, Canada, for Bangladeshi expatriates. The fair was organized by 'Baraka Apparel' at the Bangladesh Centre in Calgary on Saturday in a joyful and colorful atmosphere throughout the day. It displayed various types of saris and women's accessories from different countries, including Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan. There was a spontaneous presence of expatriates at the fair.

Arifa Rabbani, owner of 'Baraka Apparel', said, "It feels great to be organizing the Durga Puja Fair for the first time. We had new collections at the fair. Among them, there were a lot of women's sarees and salwar kameez, as well as accessories."

He said that the diverse Durga Puja fair is not just about shopping, but also creates a wonderful bridge of mutual understanding between the local social culture, values, and communities in the diaspora.

He said the main attraction of the fair was the 'Baraka Apparel' saree gift offering. The family exchanges that take place during Durga Puja through shopping and exchanging gifts among women are a centuries-old tradition of our social system.
