Faridpur District Association Pitha Festival in New York

Faridpur District Samity's 'Pitha Utsab' (Festival of Pies) was held in New York in a festive atmosphere, featuring 42 varieties of pies. The festival was organized on Saturday (January 3).

The festival, held in the bitter cold of Bangladesh, featured a notable presence of the expatriate generation among the participants. The chief guest was Moin Chowdhury, director of the American International Bar Association and a renowned immigration attorney.

Praising the role of Faridpur District Association in keeping the generation growing up in distant diaspora familiar with Bengali traditions, Attorney Moin Chowdhury said, "By keeping our own culture alive in this multinational country, it will be possible to keep Bangladesh and Bengaliness alive in a way. We are always committed to the welfare of our beloved motherland. Therefore, the government must take measures so that every diaspora can live safely while traveling to Bangladesh."

As a special guest, Bangladesh Society Treasurer Mofizul Islam Bhuiyan said, Pitha-Puli has been playing an important role in the folk history and tradition of Bengalis since ancient times. Pitha-Puli is generally known as a winter delicacy and is revered in Bengali society as a delicious food. The Pitha-Puli festival plays a special role in strengthening the bond between relatives and mutual relations. The hustle and bustle of making pitha-Puli in rural Bengal is more prevalent during winter. The same atmosphere is being observed in New York at this event organized by Faridpur Samiti.

Tariqul Islam Mithu, who has gained fame for his humanitarian work on the social media platform 'ABCH', also spoke as a special guest at the festival hosted by Mohammad Bulbul, chaired by the president of the host organization, MM Ramzan Ali.

In their welcome remarks, Sharif Rahat Milton, General Secretary of the organizing organization, and Taibur Rahman, Convener of the Pitha Festival, expressed deep gratitude to those who brought homemade pitha to this grand event.

Finally, attorney Moin Chowdhury and guests formally inaugurated the Pitha festival, and it was served free of charge to everyone.
