The relevant authorities in Oman have allowed legalizing illegal foreign workers residing in the country. The Bangladesh Embassy in Muscat said that some new information has been received regarding the legalization and regularization of the Aqaba system for illegal foreign workers.

According to the information published by the embassy, applications for this facility must be made by October 1. All illegal foreign workers residing in Oman, including domestic workers, will be covered under this facility. In addition, those arriving on visit visas will also be eligible for this facility. However, family members will not be covered under this facility.

Under this system, it is possible to change the workplace or the co-worker. For this, permission or clearance from the previous employer will not be required.

The embassy said that those currently working in the ASEZA zone will have the opportunity to have any penalties for delay in renewing their work permit with their current or new employer fully waived. For this, they will have to apply for a new work permit.

In addition, it has been announced that there will be a system of waiver of applicable fines for those who want to leave Jordan altogether.

To facilitate illegal foreign workers, ASEZA is providing extra services outside their regular office hours. The services are being provided from 8:30 am to 6 pm from Sunday to Thursday and from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday. Those who have previously availed such facilities can also apply for this facility again.

The Bangladesh Embassy said that if further information is required on this matter, one should contact ASEZA directly. If any new information is available, it will be communicated through the embassy.
