The US Embassy in Dhaka has warned Bangladeshis traveling to the United States on B1/B2 visitor visas. The embassy has issued clear instructions on what activities cannot be carried out in the United States under this visa.
In a post on social media on Saturday morning, the US Embassy said that giving birth to a child in the United States to obtain US citizenship, or 'birth tourism', is not permitted on B1/B2 visitor visas.
Additionally, any work that is paid for by a U.S. employer or business cannot be performed under this visa. Similarly, studying for a degree or institutional credit and working for pay are also not permitted under the B1/B2 visitor visa.
Earlier, on August 22, the US Embassy had also warned Bangladeshi students. The warning stated that working outside of studies, dropping out of studies, regularly missing classes, or withdrawing from educational programs without informing the educational institution could result in the cancellation of student visas.
