Bangladeshi expatriates in Orlando celebrated the 56th Independence and National Day of Bangladesh with due respect and patriotic fervor. The event was organized by the Central Florida Mohanagar Awami League, bringing together community leaders, activists, and families.

The program began with the hoisting of the national flag, followed by a solemn tribute to the martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War. March 26 is observed annually as Bangladesh’s Independence Day, commemorating the declaration of independence from Pakistan in 1971 and honoring the sacrifices of millions.

A decorated venue featuring red and green banners, along with portraits of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Sheikh Hasina, reflected the spirit of the Liberation War. Speakers at the event emphasized the historical significance of independence and the continued responsibility of Bangladeshis living abroad to uphold national values and unity.

Leaders of the Bangladesh Awami League reiterated their commitment to the ideals of the Liberation War, including democracy, justice, and economic progress—principles that remain central to the party’s vision.

The discussion session was followed by cultural performances, including patriotic songs, poetry recitations, and speeches by community members. Participants expressed pride in Bangladesh’s achievements and highlighted the importance of passing on the country’s history and culture to the younger generation growing up abroad.

The event concluded with a renewed pledge among attendees to contribute to Bangladesh’s development while preserving their cultural identity in the United States. The celebration in Orlando once again demonstrated the strong bond and unity within the Bangladeshi diaspora.
