Three Bangladeshi Americans promoted to New York Police Department

Three Bangladeshi-American police officers were promoted at a ceremony held at the New York City Police Department headquarters, creating a sense of joy and pride in the expatriate Bangladeshi community.

Promotion certificates were presented to various officers at a ceremony held at the New York City Police Department (NYPD) headquarters on May 28. New York City Police Department Commissioner Jessica Tisch was present as the chief guest at the ceremony.

The Bangladeshi-American officers promoted are: Police Officer Tanni Chanda, who has been promoted to the rank of Sergeant; Police Officer Safayet Jamil and Police Officer Ashfaqur Rahman, who have been promoted to the rank of Detective.

The Bangladeshi-American Police Association (BAPA) sincerely congratulated the promoted officers on this achievement.

In a joint congratulatory message, the organization's president, Captain AKM Alam, vice-president Sergeant Detective Squad Ershadur Siddique, and general secretary Detective Jamil Sarwar said, "This success is not just a personal achievement, but a matter of pride for the entire Bangladeshi-American community."

Sergeant Jasim Mia, media coordinator for BAPA, said, “This promotion is a recognition of hard work, dedication, and professionalism. Their success will serve as an inspiration for the next generation of Bangladeshi-American youth.”

Leaders of the expatriate community believe that the increasing participation and success of Bangladeshi-Americans in U.S. law enforcement is further enhancing the positive image of the Bangladeshi community in mainstream society.

It is worth noting that a significant number of Bangladeshi-American members serve in the New York City Police Department, one of the largest and most professional police forces in the world. Many of them are earning recognition for their expertise and service in their respective fields.
