A captivating cultural evening, "Nazrul Suranjali", organized by "Sureredhara" was held at the Glenfield Community Hall in Sydney last Saturday (October 4).
The program was a tribute event entirely centered around the life, songs, and poems of our national poet, Kazi Nazrul Islam.
The program began with two chorus songs, “O Bhai Khati Sonar Che Khati” and “Tomar Veena Tare Geeti.” This was followed by a mesmerizing duet of classical instrumental music on Sharad and Tabla performed by Tanim Hayat Khan and Abhijit Dan.
In the next part, Sydney's well-known and talented artists Sara Siddiqui Naina, Afroza Sharmin Papri, Sazia Hasan Proiti, Lubaba Islam and Tamima Shahreen mesmerized the audience with their solo performances of Nazrul's songs. In addition, Sydney's prominent musician Mamun Hasan Khan touched the hearts of the audience by performing two Nazrul songs.
In addition, Sydney's very talented and well-known dancer, Arpita Som Chowdhur,y performed a mesmerizing dance to Nazrul's songs. Sydney's well-known reciter and theater artist Shahin Shahnewaz recited Nazrul's poems.
The program concluded with Nazrul's unique creation, "Ami Yuge Yuge Asi Asiyachi Kon Mahabiplav Hetu." Accompanied throughout the program by talented Sydney instrumentalists Abhijit Dan on tabla, Mamun Hasan Khan on harmonium, Sohel Khan on guitar, Robin Bhowmik on keyboard, and Lokman Hakim on mandira.
