Liberation War-based film screening in Canada

On the occasion of Bangladesh's great Victory Day, a film exhibition based on the Liberation War has been organized in Toronto, Canada, under the initiative of the Toronto Film Forum.

The exhibition, which began on December 12 and will continue until Tuesday (December 16), is being held at 3000 Danforth Avenue in Toronto and showcases the history and spirit of the Liberation War through films.

In continuation of this, on December 14, Canadian local time, a lamp procession was organized by the Toronto Film Forum on the occasion of Martyred Intellectuals Day. For the past 11 years, the organization has been regularly observing Martyred Intellectuals Day and has also been demanding international recognition of the 1971 genocide. On Martyred Intellectuals Day, visitors stood on the streets holding lamps and singing songs of the Liberation War to remember the martyred intellectuals. The spontaneous participation of expatriate Bangladeshis was observed in this emotional event.

The documentary "Lifelong Freedom Fighter" was screened at the Toronto Film Forum on Martyred Intellectuals Day. Titled "Dr. Nurun Nabi: Lifelong Freedom Fighter", this documentary is a unique document based on the struggle and colorful life of Ekushey Padak-winning scientist, writer and heroic freedom fighter Dr. Nurun Nabi. Based on his book 'Bullet of Seventy-One: A Freedom Fighter's Story', this documentary is directed by Nadeem Iqbal. It depicts the story of a freedom fighter's lifelong struggle, patriotism and ideals.

The current exhibition screened the film "Savitri" directed by Pantha Prasad today. On the closing day, the film "Megha Mallar" directed by Zahidur Rahim Anjan will be screened on Tuesday evening, Canadian local time.

The organizers said that the main objective of this event is to highlight the spirit, history, tradition, and culture of Bangladesh's Victory Day among the young children and teenagers growing up in Canada. They said that such events will continue in the future to spread the spirit of the Liberation War from generation to generation.
