Two Bangladeshi workers working in a palm plantation were killed on the spot in a road accident in Malaysia
The country's media outlet Harian Metro reported this information on Monday morning. Earlier, at around 5 pm local time on Sunday, they met with an accident in Sungai Kuan town, Kuala Lipis district, Pahang state, after finishing gardening work. The Hilux vehicle carrying them fell into a deep ditch while traveling through a mountainous, uphill and downhill road.
The deceased are Tuhin Ali (25), son of Shukuruddin Kalu of Gopalnagar village in Gomastapur union of Gomastapur Sadar upazila of Chapainawabganj, and Md. Shamim Reza (23), son of Md. Kabil of Nasibandi Nagar village in the same union.
Tuhin's uncle Shafiqul Islam said that Sunday was a public holiday in Malaysia. Tuhin and Shamim, along with five residents of Gomostapur, went to work overtime that day. They were returning home in a pickup truck after work. When they reached the Sungai Quan area, the pickup truck lost control while trying to save a motorcycle. At that time, the three jumped to safety, but Tuhin and Shamim were crushed to death under the vehicle.
Lipis District Police Chief Superintendent Ismail Mann said the accident occurred at 3:30 pm when the workers were returning home from the Gahai Agropolitan Farm.
He said the bodies of the victims have been sent to the Kuala Lipis Hospital for an autopsy and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing fatal accident due to reckless driving.
