A Bangladeshi man named Kabir Mridha (50) has died after being crushed by a truck at his workplace in Florida, USA. The accident occurred at around 7:20 am on Saturday (June 20) in Pompano Beach City, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The deceased Kabir Mridha hailed from the Barisal district. He was known as a very kind person in South Florida. His sudden death has cast a shadow of deep sorrow among the local expatriate Bangladeshis. Everyone has expressed their sympathy to the bereaved family. At the time of his death, he left behind his wife and only one son, named Rafat, 19 years old. They all lived in the same area.
Regarding the accident, Bangladesh Association of Florida President ABM Mostafa said on Monday morning that Kabir Mridha worked at a local Bangladeshi-owned gas station cum convenience store (fuel oil sales center including grocery store). On the morning of the incident, he went to work and went to the truck waiting area next to the gas station. While talking to a driver there, a truck coming from a nearby parking area ran over him. Doctors confirmed that Kabir Mridha died on the spot after the accident.
Family sources said that Kabir Mridha's body has been kept for autopsy. After the legal process and autopsy formalities, his first funeral will be held in Florida. After that, the body will be sent to Bangladesh for burial.
