An expatriate Bangladeshi named Mejbah Uddin committed suicide by hanging himself in the Maldives. His body was recovered by the local administration from the staff quarters of Citron by Lemongrass Company in the capital, Male, on Thursday (June 25) night. Kabir Ahmed, an expatriate Bangladeshi working in the same company, confirmed the matter.
He said that Mejbah Uddin lived with other colleagues in the company's staff quarters. At night, his colleagues found him unconscious and informed the police. Later, the police reached the spot, recovered the body, and sent it to the morgue of a local hospital.
Mezbah is a resident of Mahadia village in Bhorer Bazar area of Sonagazi upazila of Feni district. Her father's name is Mojibul Haque (Suruj Mia).
The deceased's maternal uncle, Md. Zahirul Islam said that Mezbah went to the Maldives in February this year in search of a livelihood. Mezbah was under some personal and mental stress. However, they are not sure about the actual cause of his death and are waiting for the official investigation report of the Maldives police.
