Bangladeshi Soma makes history as a judge in the United States

After the national anthem of Bangladesh, Bangladeshi-American woman Soma Sayeed took the oath as a judge of the New York State Supreme Court by placing her hand on the Holy Quran. Through her talent and dedication, Justice Soma has also taken Bangladesh to a unique height. Soma, the daughter of freedom fighter Aftabuddin Sayeed and Amina Begum Sayeed, the headmistress of a girls' high school in Tangail, immigrated to the United States with her parents at the age of 12 and has been living in Queens, New York City, since then. After studying in public schools in New York City, Soma Sayeed earned a bachelor's degree from the City University of New York. She then earned a JD with distinction from the Albany Law School of Union University.
