Bangladeshis living in Portugal have formed a human chain in Lisbon, the country's capital, demanding a speedy investigation into the murder of Mahbubul Alam and the maximum punishment for the culprits. Mahbubul Alam was brutally shot dead by miscreants in his business establishment on June 13. The human chain was organized by Kaza Do Bangladesh to strongly condemn the incident and demand justice.
More than a hundred Bangladeshi expatriates participated in a human chain held in front of the Portuguese Ministry of Home Affairs in Lisbon at 3:30 pm on Thursday (June 20). There, community leaders submitted a memorandum to the Ministry of Home Affairs, demanding a speedy and fair investigation into the murder of Mahbubul Alam, exemplary punishment for the culprits, and ensuring full security for Bangladeshi expatriates.
The expatriates said, 'We respect the laws of Portugal, we are immigrants, part of this society. We strive for a safe environment at work and in all business establishments. We are not terrorists; rather, we live by working hard and making regular social contributions. Therefore, we must ensure the safety of our lives and property.
The speakers also said, "The way Mahbubul Alam was shot dead in front of his wife and children is inhuman and inhumane. We do not want to see such scenes again. The culprits in this incident must be arrested quickly and given the maximum punishment."
