The 2-day 7th Asian Food, Music and Cultural Festival organized by the Bangladesh American Foundation of Central Florida has concluded in Kissimmee, Orlando, Florida.
Some visionary cultural organizers from Bangladesh have come together to organize this festival on May 2 and 3 at a large indoor auditorium in Osceola Heritage Park in Orlando, with the determination to bring Bengali culture to all culturally-minded people around the world.
The festival, which lasted from 2 pm to 12 midnight, featured India Idol winner 'Khodabox', Channel i music competition finalists 'Shamir Mahmud' and 'Parvez Sajjad' as the main attraction on stage. Along with them, local artists of various languages enthralled the audience present in the auditorium. The event was hosted by 'US Bachchu', a popular North American singer of Bangladeshi origin.
A group of dancers of African and South American descent demonstrated their dance moves to the delight of the enthusiastic music and dancers in the hall.
One of the main attractions of the event was the civic service provided by the Bangladesh Consulate in Florida to Bangladeshis. A spokesperson for the consulate said, "We are committed to reaching out to the respected Bangladeshi citizens living abroad at their doorsteps. We not only provide civic service by attending such events, but we also enjoy the festivities. We want such events to be held across the 8 states under our jurisdiction.
Because in these events, we see a lot of Bangladeshis in one place on one day. It gives us the joy of working in a festive mode, so we request the Bangladeshi community in the US to organize such events everywhere and allow us to work more happily in such a way."
The guests who came gave a high response and said that it was very nice to be able to come to such an event. We hope to have such events more regularly. Such events give us a chance to breathe a little in our busy lives abroad. Thank you to the organizing committee for this.
Bahar Hossain, Joint Secretary of the festival committee, said, "Through this fair, we want to connect our future generations with our culture, instill patriotism in them, and introduce them to our traditions. Many more people joined this festival than we expected. We are encouraged by such participation, so we are thinking of organizing this festival on a larger scale in the future."
Festival convener Babul Hai said, "South Asian culture is actually our culture. Our next generation is almost forgetting our country's culture; they have no connection with South Asian culture. We want to connect our next generation with the culture that is almost being forgotten. Therefore, we have respectfully invited members from all South Asian countries. The program has become colorful with their participation. We want our program to be universal."
Finance Chairman Russell Mia said, "We want to awaken cultural enthusiasm among everyone. So that we can stay with our culture even while abroad."
Co-convener Saif Chowdhury Nantu said, "We have brought India Idol champion Khodabox to make the festival enjoyable. We want all the guests to have a memorable time with us. There are a lot of clothing, jewelry, and food stalls here to enjoy shopping. We estimate that 4 to 5 thousand people participated in the 2 days. We hope to organize this event every year."
Media and Event Chairman AKM Hossain Hitu said, "We should organize such public events regularly to introduce South Asia in a positive light on American soil. We are continuing this program as part of that effort. I think if all the organizations of the Bangladeshi community in America continue to organize such events regularly, our communication media will be strengthened."
At the invitation of Mr. Hitu, the Honorable Commissioner of Osceola County, Viviana Janner, and the Deputy Mayor of Kissimmee, Angela Eddy, were present at the event. The two honored guests enjoyed such a clean event and praised the organizing committee, saying that culture strengthens the bond between people and nations. Such an event will strengthen the bond between immigrants and locals. Viviana and Angela were welcomed by the event organizers with honorary certificates.
Finally, the organizing committee thanked all the participants and all the members of the Bangladesh Consulate in Miami and declared the 2-day event over.
