A sweet distribution and joyous rally were held in New York on the news of the ban on the activities of the Awami League until the end of the trial at the International Criminal Tribunal. The program was held under the banner of the 'Student Movement Against Discrimination' at Diversity Plaza in Jackson Heights on Saturday (May 10) evening.

The rally was moderated by Abdul Quader, leader of the 'Anti-Discrimination Student Movement'.

In his guest speech, Gias Ahmed, one of the members of the BNP Central Executive Committee, said, Awami League is an anti-human and militant organization. They are organizations that are against the spirit of independence. It is an absolute truth that the Awami League did not want the independence of Bangladesh. Awami League leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman surrendered to the Pakistani army in 1971. After returning to Bangladesh on January 10, 1972, he established Baksal in 1975. All these are against the spirit of independence. Because the spirit of 1971 was democracy. He killed that democracy by establishing Baksal.

He said, "Once again, Sheikh Hasina came to power and allied herself with Ershad, allied herself with Jamaat. Not only that, she also allied herself with 1/11. And in this way, Sheikh Hasina has also proven that she is against the independence of 1971."

Gias Ahmed said, "The fascist Sheikh Hasina killed the democracy of Bangladesh by being in power for almost 16 years. It was logical for the Awami League to be banned due to its anti-independence activities and genocide. The Awami League is an anti-humanity organization, the Awami League is a militant organization, and an organization against the spirit of independence."

Among the leaders at that time were Rita Rahman, MA Sabur, Monirul Islam, Dewan Kausar, Shahadat Hossain Raju, Neera Rabbani, and Md. Harun Mia, Hasan Siddique, Noor Amin, Abul Kalam and others.

The speakers congratulated the interim government and said that now is the time to give befitting punishment to the Awami League leaders for 15 years of misrule. The expatriates are also waiting for that.
