Five youths from Kanaighat upazila of Sylhet have been killed in a road accident in Qatar. The tragic accident took place on Samal Road in Al Shahania town at around 10:30 am local time in Qatar (1:30 pm Bangladesh time) on Sunday. An Indian national was also killed in the accident.
The deceased were identified as Jibal Ahmed of Amrpur village in Jhingabari union of Kanaighat upazila, Mustaq Ahmed and Jubayer Ahmed of Majhtaluk village, Jasim Uddin of Agtaluk village and Abdul Qadir of Nij Gachbari village in the neighboring Dakshin Banigram union. It is learnt that they all worked together.
It is learned that Jasim Uddin, Jibal Uddin, Mustaq Ahmed, Zubair Ahmed and Kader Ahmed and another Indian citizen were leaving their home for work together on Sunday (June 21). The tragic road accident occurred in the city of Al Shahania at around 10:30 am local time in Qatar (1:30 pm Bangladesh time). They lost their lives on the spot. An Indian driver was also killed in the same accident.
Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kanaighat Police Station, said, "We have learned that 5 people have been killed in the Samal area of Al Shahania, Qatar. We have spoken to their families. After completing all the procedures there, the bodies will be handed over to the families as soon as they arrive in the country. However, it is not yet possible to say when the bodies can return to the country."
