6 Bangladeshis die in fire in South Africa

Six Bangladeshis have reportedly died in a fire in South Africa, while another was injured.

The accident occurred at around 3am local time on Tuesday when a fire broke out at a shop in the Eastern Cape province.

The six Bangladeshis who died were residents of Kukerchar and Char Alirtek areas of Alirtek Union in Narayanganj Sadar Upazila and Ramnagar area of ​​Baktaboli Union. The names of the casualties were not immediately known.

It is learnt that the fire broke out at the shop in Queenstown at around 3am local time on Tuesday. The Bangladeshis were sleeping inside the shop when the fire broke out. Six people died on the spot. One injured person has been admitted to the hospital. The cause of the fire has not been revealed yet.

Narayanganj Sadar Upazila Executive Officer SM Faiz Uddin said, "We have heard about some deaths. However, we have not received any official information yet. We are investigating the matter."
