Md. Touhidul Islam Nahid (26), a young man from Rangunia upazila of Chittagong, lost his life in a road accident in Oman. It was his birthday the day before the accident. As the joy of his birthday was yet to be over, the news of the death of his loved one cast a shadow of deep grief over his family and his locality.
The accident occurred on Saturday in a place called 'Wadi Marom' in the Ismail area of Muscat, Oman.
The deceased, Nahid, was a resident of the Rangunia village area of Ward No. 6 of Rangunia Municipality. He worked as an electrician in an area called 'Al Hadara Bin Daffa' in Oman.
It is learned that on the day of the incident, he was coming from his workplace to a place called Ismail by car. On the way, he lost control and hit the hill on the side of the road. As a result, the car was twisted, and Touhidul died on the spot.
The deceased's roommate, Md. Sumon said, 'Nahid was very hardworking. He went to Oman about four or five years ago, but he never returned home in this long time. In a cruel twist of fate, he finally had to return home as a corpse.'
Meanwhile, Nahid's friend Mohammad Imran Hossain wrote in an emotional status on social media, 'I wished you a happy birthday yesterday, today you are gone! Friendship since childhood, so many memories, so many trips... I still can't believe it.'
Family sources said that the driver of the car involved in the accident was another expatriate named Emdad, a resident of Chakaria police station. He is unharmed.
Relatives said that arrangements are being made to quickly send Nahid's body home after the legal process is completed.
