A Bangladeshi worker has died and another was seriously injured in a landslide at a construction project in the CyberSouth area of Denpasar, Selangor state, Malaysia.
The accident occurred on Tuesday (October 14) afternoon local time. However, the identity of the deceased Bangladeshi worker was not immediately known.
Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, Assistant Director of the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department's Operations Department, stated this in a press release.
He said that after receiving information about the accident at 4:19 pm, six members and officers from the Denkil Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene with a rescue vehicle, which was about seven kilometers away from the station. At 4:27 pm, the rescue team reached the scene and found two workers buried in the landslide.
Mukhtar also said that one worker died after being completely buried under the ground while working. Another Bangladeshi worker suffered a broken arm and was immediately rescued and sent to a local hospital.
Local authorities have temporarily closed the scene for safety reasons and have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
