Brahmanbaria youth killed in a road accident in Mecca

An expatriate youth from Akhaura upazila of Brahmanbaria was killed in a road accident in the holy city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The deceased was identified as Hanif Mia (25), son of Hiron Mia of Majhigacha village in Maniandh union of the upazila. The accident occurred at around 1:45 am on Friday, Bangladesh time. 

Family members said that Hanif went to Saudi Arabia about six years ago in search of a livelihood. There, he worked as a cleaner in a hospital in Mecca. A few days ago, after his grandmother passed away, he went to perform Umrah in her name. After the Umrah, he met with an accident on his way back to work along with three Bangladeshi colleagues.

Hanif's uncle, Belal Hossain Dilip, said, "Their car collided with a car coming from the opposite direction. Then, when everyone got out of the car and stood on the road, another car coming from behind hit them. The three survived by climbing onto the road island, but Hanif died on the spot. We received news of the death within 15 to 20 minutes of the accident. Such a death is unacceptable in any way."

According to family sources, Hanif was the eldest of two brothers and four sisters. He was supposed to get married after returning home a month later. For this reason, the family members were also looking for a bride. But that wait has now turned into deep sorrow.

Hanif's relatives said that they have contacted his supervisor at his workplace. They have assured him of necessary cooperation. Now, the family members are demanding that his body be brought back to the country quickly with the cooperation of everyone, including the relevant government departments.
