Two children died while performing Umrah

Three members of the same family from Faridpur were killed in a private car accident on their way to Mecca from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for Umrah. The accident occurred on the Riyadh-Mecca highway at around 3 pm Bangladesh time on Thursday. Two more members of the family were injured.

The deceased are Tania Tahmina Rina (45), daughter of Nazimuddin Molya, former chairman of Atghar Union Parishad in Saltha Upazila of Faridpur and a resident of Puthia village, Rina's daughter Zara (15) and son Tasbik (20). Rina's husband Shafiqul Islam and elder son Nabil were injured. They have been admitted to the hospital.

Tania Tahmina Rina's brother Touhid Mohammad Murad confirmed the death at around 9:30 pm. He said that his brother-in-law Shafiqul Islam is a resident of Uttara, Dhaka. His village is Bhairab, Kishoreganj. He has been living in Saudi Arabia for about 26 years and is working as a manager in a company. He is currently living with his family in Riyadh.

This morning, the family left Riyadh in a private car to perform Umrah in Mecca. According to Towhid Mohammad Murad, after traveling about 300 kilometers from Riyadh, a large vehicle hit the private car from behind. Three people were killed on the spot.

Shafiqul Islam and his elder son Nabil, who were injured in the accident, have been taken to a local hospital in critical condition. They were sitting in front of a private car. They survived the impact from behind. Doctors said that both of them are currently out of danger.
