A wonderful musical evening was held in Vancouver, Canada, celebrating the unique heritage of Bengali culture and music. The Rio Theater was transformed into a gathering place, where popular musicians Bappa Majumder, Elita Karim, and the famous band Dalchut were present.
Organized by Dhaka Club Vancouver, the event became an emotional gathering place for expatriate Bengalis. From popular songs of the 90s to contemporary Bengali folk music, everything was the main attraction of this cultural evening.
Band Dalchut's 'Rain falls, tapur tapur', Bappa's 'Aei Sharhar Amar', and Elita's 'Aonek Dore'—these songs seem to take the expatriates back to their childhood and adolescence in Bangladesh. As the songs played, the audience was clapping, singing, and filled with emotion.
The Rio Theater was bustling with people walking around the event. Many expatriate Bengalis and their families attended the event. Forgetting the fatigue of their busy lives, they indulged in a joyful evening—in love, songs, chats, and the aroma of Bengal.
Lotus Kamal, CEO of Dhaka Club Vancouver, said, "This is our effort to sow the seeds of Bengali culture among the new generation growing up in foreign lands. This event is the custodian and bearer of our culture and identity."
Inspired by the success of the music evening, the organizers said that they plan to organize such events regularly in the future so that people can feel the pull of Bengal even while abroad.
