The Winter Pitha Festival was held in Saskatoon, Canada, amidst festive and colorful arrangements. The exceptional festival, organized at the city's Cosmo Civic Center, provided a break from the monotony of expatriate life and brought joy and celebration to the expatriate Bengalis.
Winter in Bengal means the festival of pitha-puli. This event aims to recreate the familiar atmosphere of rural Bengal, filled with the scent of new paddy, in the land of the diaspora. In the midst of their busy lives, the diaspora Bengalis also enjoyed the winter pitha festival.
The main aim of the festival was to showcase the thousand-year-old culture, history, and culture of Bengal to the new generation. The festival featured a variety of traditional Bengali cakes, puli and Bengali food stalls.
Realtors Faruk Hossain, Rafiqul Islam and Morsheduzzaman Sumon served as the organizers of the Poush Mela.
Despite the bitter cold, expatriate Bengali housewives, decked out in colorful and colourful attire, serve other cakes including Chitai Pitha, Patisapta, Puli and Gura Pitha, Golap Pitha, Pakon Pitha, Bhapa Pitha and Hridoy Haran Pitha.
In addition, the community center, decorated in a Bengali style that reflects the diverse nature of Bengal, hosted poetry recitations, dances, fashion shows, and musical performances by children, teenagers, and adults from the afternoon until midnight. The festival included traditional Bengali chats. The entire center, filled with the walking of men, women, and children, instantly became a part of Bangladesh.
The organizers said, "We are overwhelmed by this first-time event. The arrival of nearly five hundred people at the festival proves that we, in our homeland, constantly hold the culture of our motherland and country in our hearts."
