Bangladeshis living in Canada are sharing the joy of Eid despite being thousands of miles away from their homeland. There is joy, there are arrangements—yet the absence of loved ones leaves a kind of void in this festival.

Bangladeshi expatriates are celebrating Eid with colorful arrangements across Canada, including Calgary, Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, and many other cities, despite being away from their families and relatives. Since this year's Eid is a working day, the expatriates put on new clothes early in the morning and went out early to offer Eid prayers. Then began the traditional conversation and chat of Bengalis. From time to time, greetings were exchanged with loved ones back home on mobile phones.

After a day's work, the expatriate Bengalis gather with their families in the evenings of their mechanical expatriate life. The time turns into a gathering of respect, love, and compassion. Everyone gathers in a friendly atmosphere and enjoys stories and chats.

The chat brings back memories of the days left behind by the country, along with the joy of Eid. Along with this, various local dishes are served - biryani, pulao, korma, meat chops, roasts, zarda and various dishes including homemade yogurt.

On this special day, every moment brings back memories of the country and familiar faces. Many connect virtually with their relatives. Tears well up in the eyes of some, regretting not being able to celebrate Eid together in the country.

Regarding Eid celebrations abroad, ABM College founder and president Dr. Md. Baten said, "Eid is not celebrated here with joy like in Bangladesh. We go to each other's houses, exchange greetings, and reminisce about the country. The new generation will not understand the joy of that Eid."
