The Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) has arrested 39 foreign nationals in separate raids in the state of Selangor. The detainees include citizens of Myanmar, Indonesia, Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan, authorities said.
On Monday (June 15), members of the Selangor Immigration Department conducted raids at a night market (Pasar Malam) in the Batu Caves area and a residential area in Selayang Baru.
According to sources from the Immigration Department, the operation was conducted to verify the legal documents of foreign citizens, violations of visa conditions, illegal stay, and other immigration law-related issues.
An investigation has been launched against the detainees under Malaysian immigration laws. Authorities said legal action will be taken after the investigation is completed.
The operation is part of Malaysia's ongoing crackdown on illegal immigrants and immigration violators. The country's immigration department said such operations will continue in the future to ensure law enforcement and public safety.
