The 54th Armed Forces Day of Bangladesh was celebrated with due dignity in Malaysia. The Bangladesh High Commission organized a reception to mark the day at a resort in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday night.
The Chief Guest of the event was Vice Admiral Dato' Pahlwan TS Shamsuddin bin Haji Ludin, Deputy Chief of the Royal Malaysian Navy, and his wife Datin Nur Balkhism binti Abu Bakar.
The program began with the performance of the national anthems of Bangladesh and Malaysia. Following that, a documentary film was screened on the occasion of Armed Forces Day.
Md. Hassan Tariq Mandal, Defense Advisor of the Malaysian High Commission, in his welcome speech, highlighted the significance of Armed Forces Day. He highlighted the good relations existing between the Malaysian and Bangladeshi militaries.
At the event, Bangladesh High Commissioner to Malaysia Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury highlighted the role of the armed forces in the context of Bangladesh's struggle and independence.
The High Commissioner stated that the Bangladesh Armed Forces are highly regarded worldwide due to their professional skills. The glory of appointing the highest number of peacekeepers in the UN peacekeeping mission has made the country's flag shine brightly in the world. After the speech, the High Commissioner cut a cake to mark the day with the guest of honor and the Defense Advisor.
Defense advisors from 40 countries, senior officers of the Malaysian Armed Forces, important officials from various ministries, local Bangladeshi community leaders, and officials and staff of the High Commission were present at the event.
